Sophy Roberts talks of the concept of micro-cruising in Palace in Wanderland in the Financial Times’s How to Spend it magazine.

A new hybrid of the the private but in-affordable yacht cruises and affordable but ‘socially claustrophobic’ cruise liners is emerging, in the form of micro-cruising, which tends towards an exploratory attitude, heading away from the more popular waters and into lesser known territory, with set departures and a much smaller boat and crew. Will Jones, director of journeys by Design assures us that he is keen to pursue this on the east African coast: ‘you could anchor offshore at some of the region’s exceptional private islands’, Will tells us and highlights Mnemba, Vamizi off Mozambique, Zanzibar, Lamu or Kiwayu Archipelago as potential stopovers. ‘The potential is just massive.’

If you’re keen to get in touch with us to start the conversation as to how you can cruise around the waters of east Africa, please do get in touch and one of our destination specialists would be happy to start the conversation.
