‘Adventure is worthwhile.’ – Aristotle

Conservation-based travel only works if it benefits all, the host community very much included. As a travel operator, we have since our inception been acutely aware of the role we play in ensuring that our trips have a long-term positive impact on the people for whom the destinations we use are home.

Since 2015, we have created an organisation better capable of redistributing our profits and traveller contributions to these communities. As part of these efforts, the cost of a RARE itinerary includes a US$5,000 environmental pledge to one of the at-risk ecosystems we support in eastern Africa, via our sister charity Wild Philanthropy, a registered 501(c)(3).

For more and if you would like to help, please see Supported Ecosystems, Donor Travel, and Wild Philanthropy. For an example of a RARE safari, please see our Off The Map journey to Eritrea.
