Marcia DeSanctis writes about her time in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, under the guidance of three of the most sought after organisations in Botswana’s safari world.
First stop was with Derek and Beverly Joubert of luxury conservation outfit, Great Plains at Duba Plains Camp, and a close encounter with a pair of hippos at the dead of night. Second was Beagle Expeditions and camping on an island at the same level as the local crocs. And finally was Wilderness’s Mombo Camp: the main question arising on the last day of safari serenity was whether to have a massage or go on a wildlife drive – a no brainer. But what DeSantis was really aspiring to was the sighting of one of the delta’s most majestic creatures – a leopard.
