As of 2016, Tracks and Trails operate three excellent seasonal tented camps in Etosha National Park, in Sossusvlei, and next to the Ugaab River in Namibia.
Overview
Given the remote locations of Tracks and Trails fully mobile tented camps, the look and feel of each is that of the true outdoor safari: the tents are 100% canvas, food is cooked outdoors on an open fire, the dining table and camp chairs can be taken outside for meals under the vast Namibian sky. Despite the rugged feel, the camps are comfortable, decorated with African rugs and wall hangings. Sleeping tents are away from the main tent area.
Food & service
Tracks and Trails was first founded in 1986 and so depends on the combined lengthy experience of its 28-member permanent staff team to deliver a seamless classic mobile tented safari experience. The food at the camp falls under the umbrella of anything that can be locally sourced and cooked on a camp fire, which can range from spit-roasted meat to vegetables and homemade bread.
Rooms
The sleeping tents at Tracks and Trails include twin or double beds and has an en suite shower with a wash basin and flush toilets. Each tent is beautifully positioned, overlooking the expanse of wilderness that it sits in.
Activities
Activities from Namibia Tracks and Trails Mobile Tented Camp include wildlife drives and animal tracking by foot, opportunities to join conservationists in their work, and visits to local villages, farms and schools.
Impact
Conservation
All electricity at the camps are generated by solar energy and the water is supplied through solar-powered pump from nearby boreholes. All of Namibia Tracks and Trails camps support Save the Rhino, Elephant-Human Relation Aid, and Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
