Located on the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in South Africa, &Beyond Tengile River Lodge is in every sense a luxury outfit.
Overview
With nine private suites and main lodge built in the shade of a riverine thicket, the Tengile River Lodge looks out onto a wide meander of the Sand River. The shared area includes a large bar and lounge area, which is decorated with local artwork and each fitted out with beautifully crafted furnishings, including a coffee table made from a large tree trunk cross section and hardwood carvings. Favourable space-to-guest ratios lends itself to lots of room and privacy Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge.
Food & service
The service at the lodge is friendly and efficient. Meals at &Beyond Tengile can be taken almost anywhere, from guests’ private verandas to the main dining room to the boma or bush. Breakfast normally consists of an assortment of seasonal fruit, local jams and honey, homemade bread, pastries, granola, yoghurt and local cheeses. With a variety of menus, including boma, a la carte, and family, there is something here for everyone. Dietary requirements can be catered for at the lodge with enough advance notice.
Rooms
The nine rooms at &Beyond Tengile River Lodge are vast and packed with amenities. Each comes with a double bed, en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower, a lounge, dining area and bar, private decking, a swimming pool outdoor seating and a dining area. The glass fronted room and bathroom means that guests can view the wildlife beyond from the comforts of bed and bathtub, both of which are enormous.
Activities
The area holds an impressive biodiversity and wildlife drives make a up a large part of the experience here. In addition, guests can go on helicopter rides or guided walks – the birdlife makes for a twitcher’s paradise. Massages can be organised back at the lodge.

Conservation
With thermal efficiency, state-of-the-art wastewater and sewer treatment systems, the lodge aims to minimise its environmental footprint as much as possible. Vehicle limits in each area ensure that wildlife is minimally impacted by the presence of safari trucks.
