Based in Botswana, Kenya, and the UK, Journeys by Design is an independent adventure and exploration company curating Classic and Rare safaris and privately guided travel experiences to Africa. Voted one of the world’s top ten ‘super agents’ by the Financial Times, we deliver the most extraordinary nature-based journeys, from family and multi-generational trips to wild and remote partner and group expeditions.

A testament to our specialist knowledge and experience, Journeys by Design’s Chief Exploration Officer, Will Jones, is a Condé Nast Traveller Top Travel Specialist and Travel + Leisure A-List Advisor, and our pro guides, Kyle de Nobrega and Squack Evans, are members of African Parks’s private guide network. As well as being based in Botswana and Kenya, many of us also grew up in Africa. Our small and specialised team has over 125 years of experience in the safari industry. At least 80% of our business is repeat or referred, such is the trust established with clients.
Taking your cue, we aim to (co)design travel experiences that are as thought-provoking as they are adventurous, as they are different, and that allow for and welcome the unexpected, very often returning us home somehow changed. This ‘wild process’ brings us all closer to each other and the places explored, to nature and everything that matters.

In short, a Journeys by Design itinerary is informed by the traveller’s needs and wants, placing you at the heart of everything we do. Facilitating a genuinely authentic participation in a place, its wildlife, and its communities, the planning process aims to create the framework for an experience that only you could ever have, done in a way that is as beneficial to your host as it is to you.
