Director of Flight Operations at the redoubtable Tropic Air, Sarah Snell is a fixed wing and helicopter pilot with extensive knowledge of the length and breadth of Kenya.
Having grown up in California, Sarah learnt to fly in Oregon, where she went solo at the ridiculously young age of 16, and then went on to live and work in Alaska, where she spent seven years working with multiple operators, and racked up 2,500 flying hours.
After Alaska, Sarah took the plunge and moved to Kenya in 2011, working with Luca Safari, and later with Air Kenya Helicopter Services, before moving to Tropic Air in 2016, where she is rated on multi-engine aircraft, seaplanes and gliders, captains the outfit’s Cessna aircraft and Airbus helicopters, and guides clients to the likes of the Shompole Conservancy, Lake Turkana and Suguta Valley.
Sarah has over 5000 flying hours, and lives and works out of Nairobi, Kenya.
