In an interview by Steve and Emma Love in Conde Nast Traveller, we hear about the past present and future of our own Will Jones, founder and MD of Journeys by Design.

Having grown up in six different African nations, Will’s home has always been in East Africa. After attending boarding school in the South of England, Will vowed to himself to one day go back to the bush. He spent the year after school building Ethiopia’s first luxury eco-lodge, Bishangari, on the shores of Lake Langano, the beginnings of which occurred when he took a chance trip across the lake in an under powered rubber dinghy with his dad. ‘Ultimately, everything I’ve done is about getting back into the forest.’ Conde Nast introduces the concept of Wild Philanthropy, something which, in the last two years has taken full shape into a successful charity with 501(c)(3) status and whose mission it is to use income from travel to invest in projects that will benefit both the community and wildlife. ‘It’s about realigning the interests of humans and the natural world.’
