Lisa Grainger talks of the ultra high net worth individuals for whom holidays have become something else.

‘Super-traveller’ billionaires are seemingly playing a game one-upmanship, perhaps in part to come home with stories that would ‘drop jaws at drinks parties’, as Tom Marchant, co-founder of Black Tomato puts it. Grainger points out Ol Donyo Laro in Kenya as a place among others, as a place that can be travelled to and from in private helicopter or the owner’s Cessna aircraft. Horse riding through the wild plains can be organised as well as flights to mount Kenya and landing at Lake Natron ‘at cocktail hour’, as Grainger puts it, ‘to admire flamingos.
