Heather Richardson tells of her time at Cheetah Plains, a private reserve bordering Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Recently refurbished, Cheetah Plains is a camp that is completely run on electricity, including its safari vehicles: Range Rovers that have undergone a 100,000 USD refurb, ending in the installation of Tesla batteries. Richardson explains the pros, of which there are many, from its electrically heated seats and readily available USB charging stations, to being able to get all the closer to usually elusive wildlife.

Please do get in touch if you’re interested in green energy initiatives in South Africa, or if you’d like to experience a luxury safari itinerary including Cheetah Plains, one of our Destination Specialists would be happy to start the conversation.
