I’m currently in the middle of one of the most eye-opening trips I’ve ever had the privilege of taking. I’ll share the ins and outs when I get back, in a later post, but for now I’d just like to highlight the fundamental importance of local knowledge, the quality of your guide.
Many of Ethiopia’s northern circuit guides are known throughout the industry, their names spoken with a certain reverence. Bereket, who’s guiding me through Lalibela, is one of them. I could never have taken these pictures without him, his knowledge, his ability to make me understand what it is I am looking at.
