Located on the Zimbabwe side of the Zambezi River banks, Victoria Falls River Lodge is a luxury safari outfit, a stone’s throw from Mosi-oa-tunya (Victoria Falls), whose spray can be seen from the lodge.

Overview

With a tropical island feel, Victoria Falls River Lodge sits on the very edge of the Zambezi River looking across into Zambia and prides itself on the well-balanced feel of an intimate lodge with top luxury level comfort. A masterful mix of canvas, decking and thatched roofs, the lodge is split into private treehouses, which are self-contained with a lounge, dining area and bar, and luxury tents, which have access to a spa, fitness centre and gift shop. Please note that guests of the treehouses can access all areas of the lodge, while guests of the luxury tents cannot access the treehouse facilities.

Food & service

Commented on by returning guests as a particular highlight, the food at the lodge is largely a fine dining affair, using local produce of fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs. Meals are delivered to your table by the lodge’s service team. Please note that while dietary requirements are catered for, it is advised to let the destination specialist planning your trip know in advance.

Rooms

As mentioned, the accommodation at Victoria Falls River Lodge is split into tents and treehouses:

Tents
Of the tents, there are eight double tents and five family tents with capacity for two adults and three children. Please note that given the three-quarter size of beds in the adjoining room, no more than two adults can stay in the family tents. A thatch, canvas and wood construct decking, each double tent is fully air conditioned and follows the stylish minimalistic décor of the shared areas. Within the generously sized room is a king size bed with a mosquito net and a lounge area with corner sofa, coffee table and chairs as well as a bar area. The bathroom is extensive with a double vanity unit, inside and outdoor showers and free-standing bathtub. All of this over-looks a large deck with a plunge pool and stunning views of the Zambezi. The family tent is subject to all the amenities of the double tent, but with an extra adjoining room.

Treehouses
The treehouses at Victoria Falls River Lodge are fully self-contained and the feel is that of a more private alternative to the tents. There are five Island Treehouses and one Starbed Treehouse. Largely the same, the main difference is the Starbed Treehouse has a bed on the roof of the room in addition to that inside the room, so guests can have the feeling of camping out in the full comfort of a king-size bed with mosquito nets.

Activities

Activities at Victoria Falls River Lodge include tours of Victoria Falls on foot, boat or helicopter, bungee jumping, river cruises, rafting, and safari drives and walks into Zambezi National Park.

Impact

Conservation
The Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit (VFAPU) is an anti-poaching unit that runs to serve the park’s wildlife and land, which Victoria River Lodge helps part fund.
