Situated on the coast of Lake Kariba, in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland West Province, naturally on the peak of a hill, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is a truly luxurious stay.
Overview
Consisting of a shared area and 10 standard and 10 premium rooms, Bumi Hills possesses a spa, library, bar, restaurant, air conditioned business centre, and its own private airstrip. The main lodge offers a rich selection of pastimes for guests, including a TV lounge, a full sized snooker table and board and card games. Wi-Fi and mobile connectivity is accessible across the property.
Food & service
The food, which uses fresh local ingredients, is beautifully prepared – the cuisine mainly Zimbabwean with flexibility to suit guests’ personal tastes. The dishes are generally served on the camp’s outdoor dining deck, to take in the lake’s views, although the indoor dining area is always available to use during spells of bad weather. The service throughout the lodge is outstanding.
Rooms
Possessing great views of Lake Kariba, the standard rooms are dotted around the camp’s infinity pool, and come with a mini bar, safe, fan and fridge. Charmingly appointed and en suite, their light, beige-tempered aesthetic is complimented by a collection of essential furniture, including a lamp, twin/double beds, small pieces of artwork, and a generously sized mirror . The premium rooms are much the same, with the addition of private balconies which have incredible vistas of the lake.
Activities
Alongside spa treatments, Bumi Hills offers numerous activities, such as wildlife drives, guided walks, and cultural excursions to the nearby Tonga villages. Focusing on the wonderful natural resource that is Lake Kariba, the lodge also provides opportunities for guests to sail, fish and cruise.
