Cité Lacustre is located a short distance north of Togoville, close to the village of Ekpi. A much-loved leafy oasis situated on the shore of Lake Togo, best reached by taking a boat across the lagoon.
Overview
Cité Lacustre Hotel has just seven rooms, all distinctly rotund in shape, as is its restaurant. Unique as the hotel’s style may be, it is best loved for what it offers outside — a large verdant garden where hammocks offer lake views. The garden backs onto a wide terrace which sits just above a golden sandy beach, beyond which are a series of wooden platforms raised on stilts over the lake itself. Also overlooking the lake is the hotel’s swimming pool where sunloungers can be found. The atmosphere is as relaxed as might be expected for such a setting.
Food & service
Offering hearty international staples alongside Togolese favourites such as smoked meats and fish, Cité Lacustre’s restaurant Le Boucané is as popular with locals as it is guests. Meals can be taken in the restaurant, on the terrace, or in the garden. The restaurant and the hotel are also both widely known for their warm and friendly staff team.
Accommodation
The seven rooms at Cité Lacustre offer a touch of eccentricity amongst all the laidback charm: large circular rooms, each with its own green-tiled cone roof and reached via its own white-washed collonade. Clean and well-maintained, they all offer air-conditioning.
Activities
Table tennis is available within the hotel grounds, as is a children’s area. Staff are also very happy to provide information on local hikes and boat trips across the lake. The true delight of staying in such an easy-going setting as Cité Lacustre is to simply eat, drink, and soak up the uninterrupted views across the lakec.
