A luxury game lodge located in North-West Province, in Madikwe Game Reserve, Impodimo Game Lodge is an outstanding piece of accommodation.
Situated on a ridge, next to a spring, the lodge is a stone, wood and thatch build consisting of a main lodge and 8 suites. The shared areas include a pool, library, shop, bar, lounge and dining area.
Raised, thatched and possessing extensive decking, the main lodge is a delight. Characterised by a polished stone floor, whitewashed walls and a cavernous ceiling, it is eclectically furnished, with slumber seating, low tables, lightweight cane armchairs, Persian carpets, clusters of low hanging and voluminous lamp shades, a dried out tree, photographs and mirrors setting the tone for a shared area that is colourful, beautifully put together, welcoming. With access on one side to an upstairs library, its well thought through, and while the dining room and bar possibly lack the same degree of ease design-wise, it’s a very inclusive affair. The bar overlooks the dining table, guests of Impodimo Lodge tend to dine together and a family like atmosphere is fostered by a relaxed, caring and friendly level of service.
The suites are beautiful. Much is made by returning guests of the glass fronts, which allow for both excellent views and great naturally lit interiors, but everything about the suites suggest the eye of someone for whom comfort and style are equally important: large four poster beds, well situated lounges, open log fires, bathrooms – large claw-foot bath, shower, sink, flush toilet and outdoor showering facilities – that are a joy to spend time in.
Activities at Impodimo Lodge include game drives, guided walks and sundowners. The tracking here is particularly fine, with the majority of Impodimo’s trackers headhunted from among the Shangaan, whose hunting skills are renowned.
