Owned by the charismatic Chris Weir, Kensington Place is a delightful boutique hotel at the top of Kloof Road, Higgovale, overlooking The Gardens, the city bowl, waterfront and harbour. A favourite Journey by Design haunt, Kensington Place is one of Cape Town’s finest small hotels.
There are 8 luxury suites, which are tastefully designed and furnished with private balconies and – except for room seven – views of the Atlantic to the west. The gardens are small, but attractive, with a little swimming pool at one end. The main dining area, bar and reading patio are colourful and funky. Neither retiring nor over the top, there is a very fine balance of colour and use of local materials, which works well in this contemporary African setting.
From Kensington Place it is also very easy to access all the major attractions that Cape Town has to offer, and for the self-drive there is secure off-street parking.
