A simple, well run and comfortable lodge, Onguma Bush Camp is located east of Etosha, in the private Onguma Game Reserve.
Recently rebuilt, situated overlooking a popular waterhole, Onguma Bush Camp is a stone, wood and thatch build, and consists of a main lodge and 19 sleeping rooms. Characterised by the usual slumber seating, low tables and multi-viewing points, the main lodge includes a reception, lounge, dining area, bar, library, veranda and pool.
Open-sided, raised in parts and possessing a cavernous roof, everything about the main lodge is designed to encourage comfort, ease of passage and the chance to meet with fellow guests. Stools line the veranda, Persian rugs are spotted throughout, exposed brick facades create an outside-inside look and the most gorgeous lighting – fashioned from locally made artefacts – can be found throughout. Feedback regarding the service has been good, while the food – breakfast buffet, light lunch and a 3 course dinner – is lovely.
At the time of writing (November 2011), we haven’t, as of yet, had the pleasure of Onguma Bush Camp’s refurbished / new rooms. Certainly, while the old rooms – standard, family or suite – were clean and simple, if a tad spare, there is every indication that the new rooms are more style conscious, the design more in keeping with the lodge’s luxury credentials. Now divided into three classes (10 standard, 6 waterhole suites and 1 honeymoon suite), the nineteen rooms possess a double bed, veranda, en suite bathroom and an outdoor shower. The suites have the added luxury of a lounge.
Activities at Onguma Bush Camp include game drives (night and day), guided walks, specialised rhino research drives and sundowners.
Please be advised that lunch and dinner, activities and transfers at Onguma Bush Camp are not included in costs.
