Little sister to Le Jardin du Roy, and set on the same plot, which borders Isalo National Park, Relais de la Reine is very well-run family hotel.
Overview
Made up of two luxury rooms and 28 standard rooms, the hotel has tranquil feel. The rooms are spread across six main buildings, which overlook their own separate courtyard gardens with smells of jasmine and bougainvillea. The bar, restaurant and sitting room all face out towards the jagged landscape of Isalo National Park.
Food & service
Despite there being 30 rooms to cater for, service at Relais de la Reine has been commented by returning guests as extremely attentive, the food outstanding. The hotel’s organic farm has installed several beehives and contains many varieties of vegetables and fruit trees including mango, avocado, banana and several varieties of citrus, which provides the hotel with quality local produce.
Rooms
Accommodation at Relais de la Reine is simple and comfortable, with polished wooden floors and stone walls. Each room is decorated with black and white photographs and leads out onto its own private terrace with an en-suite bathroom. The two luxury rooms have their own separate living rooms with a fireplace and bath. The laundry service at the hotel includes dry cleaning and wi-fi is available throughout.
Activities
Isalo National Park is famous for its geological formations of sandstone and deep canyons. Guided walks are available as well as quad biking, mountain biking and even a via ferreta, which is located on the property for the more adventurous guest. The hotel is also equipped with a large spa, horse riding stables and tennis courts. Trips to the organic farm are available and the spa is one of international renown, having won awards from the likes of Robb Report and offers a full range of body massages and facials as well as a main pool.
