Qorokwe is a brand new camp set in a high-density wildlife area on the south-eastern Okavango, bordering the renowned Moremi Game Reserve.
Overview
Owned and managed by an already well-established operator of high-end camps and lodges throughout Botswana, this Qorokwe Camp includes eight luxurious lodges set in an area ideal for big game viewing. The main area is the focal point of the camp with a dining room, lounge, library and bar all built on raised wooden platforms and connected by walkways. The camp overlooks a large lagoon that feeds off the Satandadibe River and brings many animals to drink from its waters.
Food & service
Meals can be enjoyed at the camp’s main dining room or on the outside viewing deck, and dinner is often eaten under the stars in Qorokwe’s traditional boma. The camp also has its own pizza oven.
Rooms
Qorokwe Camp has eight twin-bedded tented suites plus one spacious family suite with its own splash pool. All rooms have an en suite bathroom with an indoor and an outdoor shower as well as bathtubs and double vanities. Rooms are modern in design with wood and steel frames and canvas used to provide shade over the timber decks that are raised about two metres off the ground to offer views over the surrounding lagoon and bushveld. A private deck with outdoor seating area makes the most of that view. Inside is a comfortable lounge, with features including mosquito screens, electronic safes and multi-plug adapters with USB charging points all provided.
Activities
Qorokwe Camp combines a mixture of day and night wildlife drives and nature walks led by highly-skilled guides, as well as mokoro and boating activities, depending on the water levels. The birdlife is excellent in the area and varies throughout the year depending on the season. Wildlife drives use open 4×4 vehicles to accommodate a maximum of seven guests, so allowing everyone a window seat.
Impact
Conservation
Qorokwe Camp is 100% solar-powered and all water is heated by means of thermodynamic solar geysers, further helping to reduce the camp’s carbon emissions. This is in line with the operator’s commitment to operate with as light an eco-footprint as possible.
