Born and bred in Brighton, Maddy’s background is in television, where she worked as production coordinator on a number of Britain’s best known shows, including X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
While Maddy took a great deal from her experience of working on live television productions, particularly the ability to organise under pressure, her move into sustainable tourism was precipitated by a wish to do something which would in some way relate to her core beliefs about what really matters.
Maddy joined Journeys by Design in January 2010. Her primary responsibility was initially working the smooth functioning of a busy office. This included everything from organising team events and activities to planning the building architecture of our ever-changing office. Today, that role has morphed to providing support for the pro guide and exploration specialists, which includes itinerary design, liaising with local partners, and helping calendar the entire operation.
Highly professional, extremely level-headed, Maddy is an absolute rock. Her many trips to Africa have provided her with an invaluable insight into how everything works on the ground. Having visited Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and Zambia, she has expert knowledge in travel to each of these.
