Grant arrived at Journeys by Design in 2015. As a finance manager and South African to boot, he is JbD’s numbers man. As such he’s responsible for the business’s accounts, payroll and client and supplier payments. Basically, Grant keeps an eye on the bottom line. He keeps the ship afloat. We’re lucky to have him.
Born and bred in Johannesburg, South Africa, Grant attended St. Stithians College, after which he did his national service as a marine in the South African navy, before heading off to Rhodes University to study accountancy.
Having graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, Grant hit the trail, travelling first to the UK, his base for trips into Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and finally settling in Brighton, life’s university now a young and growing family. After managing the accounts of a number of UK businesses and institutions, and running his own camping shop, Grant’s head was turned by the opportunity to work in a field that as well as requiring accountancy reconnected him with South Africa.
As said, we’re lucky to have Grant: someone who knows his numbers and southern Africa. On which note, as well as handling JbD’s accounts, Grant is certain to be involved in Wild Philanthropy – as it gains momentum. ‘It’s a wonderful chance to give something back to Africa.’
