In the meantime, do have a browse of the South Africa areas listed below.

With a country so massive and diverse – it stretches from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean – it can be hard to know where to begin when thinking of areas to visit. Away from the obvious, the Drakensburg Mountains are a real highlight, forming the most easterly stretch of the Great Escarpment and truly one of Africa’s most striking landscapes. Madikwe and Marakele are others, and have long set the African standard both in terms of conservation and of providing options for every kind of activity and accommodation.

The Great Karoo is an incredibly bio-diverse landscape that incorporates several private game reserves as well as the capital Pretoria – its wildlife has benefitted greatly from recent restocking programmes. Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal’s sub-tropical coastal landscape is very special indeed. Pilanesburg too is an ideal place for game-viewing, especially for those on a tight itinerary.

Here and elsewhere across the country, South Africa offers every kind of accommodation that one could ask for. There are, of course, tented camps of every description and luxury hotels that are amongst the best in the world. There are villas and resorts in a huge range of locations from the suburbs of Johannesburg to the foothills of the Drakensburg. In terms of the best, when it comes to South Africa, we’re spoiled for choice.

The range of activities available in South Africa is, again, practically boundless. From a luxury urban stay with access to some of the world’s finest cuisine to a rough-and-ready safari, from swimming with sharks off Gansbaai to a tour of South Africa’s famous wine-producing Franschhoek Valley, from game-drives in Sabi Sand to beach-lazing, South Africa has it all.
