Taking its name from the word for rhinoceros in the local Oshivambo language, Omaanda is set in the semi-arid scrub of Zannier, a private 9,000-hectare private reserve, 25 miles from Windhoek.
Overview
Using traditional Ovambo building techniques and materials, Omaanda Lodge consists of a main lodge and 10 thatched accommodation huts. The main lodge includes a restaurant, bar, decking, spa, and infinity pool that overlooks the savannah.
Food & service
The food at Omaanda is varied and can range from homemade and wholesome to small and refined dishes as well as locally sourced meats grilled on a spit or barbecue.
Rooms
The sleeping huts at Omaanda Lodge include eight double rooms and two family suites. All are spacious with armchairs and have en suite bathrooms with a deck at the front with sun loungers overlooking the vast expanse of scrub below. Each guest accommodation is spaced far enough apart for a private safari experience.
Activities
Excursions to see local wildlife can be tailored to guests’ requirements and can range from safari drives to treks organised by local experienced guides. There is a spa with two rooms and range of treatments inspired by local traditions and a pool in front of the main communal area for those in search of a more laidback safari experience.
