Overview
Set in vineyards and plum orchards, La Clé des Montagnes four distinctive Franschhoek villas come with a private pool and a dedicated butler service. Each villa boasts uniquely themed décor and comfortable furnishings as well as views of the vineyards, surrounding mountains and a pool. Each has a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining room, a living area, a fireplace and a terrace with a BBQ. One, Le Manoir, has disabled access. Children of all ages are welcome, with baby-sitting services, sandboxes and garden toys available. Concierge service, airport shuttles and free Wi-Fi are also included.
Food & service
Breakfast is prepared by butlers and includes cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, a selection of breads and croissants as well as scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, eggs Benedict or full English. South African braais (barbeques) can also be arranged. Gourmet dinners are available on request by a skilled chef, and a menu could include tuna with spiced pineapple, and roast springbok loin with feta. Selected wines and spirits are complimentary, and the estate produces fine Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Cabernet wines.
Rooms
Each of the villas’ rooms at La Cle Des Montagnes are large and spacious with super-king beds, slipper baths and walk-in showers, and include libraries, CDs, satellite TV and Wi-Fi. Each villa is unique, with interior design by the esteemed Sarah Ord, and sleeps between four to eight people. Le Manoir, the original 1820 farmhouse, is bright and lively with décor that includes reds, blacks and patterned stripes, while La Grange evokes a grand Norman farmhouse with lofty beamed ceilings and big sofas around a huge fireplace. Le Colonial features colourful patterned fabrics, Moroccan tiles and African art. Meanwhile, La Galerie showcases contemporary art.
Activities
Staff at La Cle Des Montagnes can arrange wine tours, horse riding, yoga classes and restaurant bookings. Franschhoek offers fine restaurants and art galleries in an historic village just minutes away from the villas. Cape Town is less than an hour away by car, or helicopter transfers can be arranged by request.
