Zawadi is the brand new addition to the portfolio of The Zanzibar Collection, joining the well-liked Breezes Beach Club, Baraza Resort and Spa and The Palms. A very private beachside resort, Zawadi offers tasteful seclusion and is particularly aimed at couples and small, adult-oriented groups.
Overview
Zawadi encompasses a large area given over to grounds full of tropical blooms and coconut palms. An infinity pool provides the centre-piece and is surrounded by sun loungers and has convenient access to the beach bar. Steps lead down to the hotel’s private cove and beautiful ocean-views, and there is even an outdoor gym. Its grounds are sufficiently expansive to accommodate a jogging track of nearly a kilometre. The feel spans local tradition and modern minimalism, always erring on the side of comfort and the classic.
Please note that unless the entire facility is booked by a single group the minimum age is 16.
Food & service
There are two venues for meals – the traditional thatched beach bar for lunch, a well-appointed, arch-roofed dining-room for breakfast and dinner – and a comfortable bar that opens especially for pre-dinner drinks and socialising.
Rooms
Accommodations at Zawadi comprise six villas that, stretching out along the coast, all provide as much seclusion and privacy as is desired. Each has a private furnished veranda with clear and unimpeded views of the ocean. The very spacious and open rooms are pleasantly airy; the design here as in the dining-room is minimal yet classic, with painted furniture and painted wooden floors. Each is furnished with a large double bed and offers en-suite facilities including free-standing bath and rain-shower. There is also Wi-Fi, satellite TV, AC and a writing desk and chair with views out onto the Indian Ocean.
Activities
Activities include a range of water sports (including diving and snorkeling), spa and fitness, nature safaris and shopping and sightseeing trips into town.
